Windows 10 Build 10558 got leaked online yesterday. It includes many new changes and you can read about them here. In this build, Microsoft Phone app was spotted in Store. This looks like the same phone app that is already there in Windows 10 Mobile builds. Skype and voice calls appear together in your call history, giving you one-click access to your favorite people and your favorite ways of communicating with them. Voice call feature is not working yet as actual cellular network support is not in the PC build. We are not sure whether this app was accidentally released to PC build or Microsoft is planning to bring full calling features to PCs.

4G LTE Coverage map

T-Mobile is changing the game by displaying LTE coverage maps with real customer data. The map can show you the median download LTE speed test results (where enough tests have been run in a 90-day period). Data is aggregated and not personally identifiable.

1. Check out our 4G LTE coverage map from your computer or mobile device.
2. On the coverage map, enter an address or just the name of a city. You can see the technology footprint in a given area without having to enter a specific location/address.
3. Click CHECK COVERAGE. The map shows a popup with location information.

   • The pop-up shows the address if coverage is verified by customer data, 4G LTE availability, and expected signal (indoor and outdoor reception).

   • Hexagon icons appear where there is Verified Coverage, which means the majority of customers successfully connected within a 90-day period.

   • If the map does not show Verified Coverage, this just means that there isn't enough customer-submitted data. The area still has the coverage shown.

4. Click and drag to move the map.

5. Click other areas of the map to see pop-ups with details.

Device compatibility

Quick tip! Easily check your phone's compatibility with our network using the IMEI Status Check. No need to compare network frequencies or device lists!

Find the networks a T-Mobile device supports by checking your Device 'Tech Specs' page (or, for non-T-Mobile devices, check with the manufacturer). If you want more radio frequencies/technologies, you must upgrade to a newer device.

To connect to the local network, your device must support both our network frequency (band) and the technology (5G, 4G LTE, 4G, 3G, 2G).

T-Mobile network frequencies & technology

You can check if your phone supports the T-Mobile frequencies below in order to connect on our network. This can get technical, so it's a lot simpler to just use the IMEI Status Check if you have the device already.

*Devices often support more frequencies than these, in order to roam on other domestic and international wireless networks. They are not needed on the T-Mobile network.

5G

• Frequencies that can provide 5G: Band 71 (600 MHz), Band N260 (39 GHz), Band N261 (28 GHz).
• Currently, there is not a 5G device that works on all three frequencies.
• Data download can be a combination of 5G and LTE (dual connectivity).
• Voice and data upload travel through mid-band LTE.

4G LTE

• Frequencies that can provide LTE: Band 2 (1900 MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), Band 5 (850 MHz), Band 12 (700 MHz), Band 66 (Extension of band 4 on 1700/2100 MHz), Band 71 (600 MHz).
• 4G LTE offers fast download speeds, up to 50% faster speeds than 3G. See Data speeds.
• Voice and data services only work at the same time when on you have VoLTE enabled on your device. Otherwise, LTE only provides data.

• VoLTE ('Voice over LTE')

  • VoLTE allows you to make and receive calls while connected to the LTE data network. It's available nationwide.
  • Placing a call connects twice as fast.
  • Switching between VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling does not drop a call.
  • What phones have VoLTE?
    • All phones T-Mobile currently sells support VoLTE.
    • To check if another phone supports it, use the IMEI Status Check. It will alert you if VoLTE or other LTE network features aren't supported.
  • HD Voice
    • HD Voice improves in-call voice quality for compatible phones on VoLTE.
    • Voice call quality is more true-to-life, with less background noise.
    • It automatically activates, if you and the person you're calling are both using supported phones on VoLTE.
  • Enhanced Voice Services (EVS)
    • EVS is another codec for HD Voice that further enhances call quality.
    • It is available on specific device models, such as those made by Apple.

4G (HSPA+)

• Frequencies that can provide 4G: Band 2 (1900 MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz)
• 4G offers incredibly fast download speeds, nearly as fast as 4G LTE. See Data speeds.
• Voice and data services can work at the same time. You can use data while on a call.

3G (UMTS/HSPA)

• Frequencies that can provide 3G: Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz)
• Voice and data services can work at the same time. You can use data while on a call.

2G (GSM, GPRS, EDGE)

• Frequencies that can provide 2G: Band 2 (1900 MHz)
• Voice and data services don't work at the same time when on 2G. You cannot use data while on a call.

*The T-Mobile network uses GSM network standards, and it's not a CDMA network.

Data speeds vary depending on its operating system, processor, battery life, running applications, peak theoretical speeds, and distance from the cell site. USB laptop sticks almost always offer higher speeds than smartphones, because they use the power of a laptop with larger batteries, processors, and other technologies. Also, downloading information is faster than uploading. There is no way to predict an exact speed with so many factors affecting your experience.

Not all LTE frequencies are available in all T-Mobile coverage areas.
